Crypto Calculators

A crypto calculator works out the profit, tax, yield or cost of a crypto position before you act on it.

Reviewed by Prof. Dr. Khalil Mudassar · Last updated September 2026

A crypto calculator is a free tool that turns crypto inputs into a clear number: profit, tax owed, staking yield, mining profit or a network fee. Crypto prices move sharply and each activity has its own maths, so a dedicated tool beats a rough guess.

This hub gathers our crypto and DeFi tools in one place. Use the trading tools for buy-and-sell decisions, the yield tools for staking and liquidity, and the mining and fee tools for on-chain costs. For AI cost tools, see the AI calculators.

What Are the Main Types of Crypto Calculation?

Crypto calculations split into four kinds on this page. Each answers a different question.

Trading and Investing

Trading tools measure profit, loss and what a past buy would be worth today.

Yield and DeFi

Yield tools cover staking rewards and the impermanent loss of providing liquidity.

Mining and Fees

Mining and fee tools show on-chain costs, from Bitcoin mining profit to Ethereum gas.

Tax and Tokens

Tax and token tools cover tax-loss harvesting and vesting-schedule unlocks.

How Is Crypto Profit Calculated?

Crypto profit is calculated as the sale value minus the buy value and fees. For a trade, profit equals units held times the price change, less trading and network fees.

Yield, mining and fee tools use their own formulas: staking compounds an APR, impermanent loss compares a pool with holding, and a gas fee is gas units times the price per unit in gwei. Each tool shows its method.

Worked example. Buy 0.5 BTC at $60,000 and sell at $90,000 and the gross profit is $15,000, or 50 percent, before fees. Trading and network fees of around $750 trim it to roughly $14,250.

What Do the Key Crypto Terms Mean?

Six terms decide what a crypto position is worth. Each definition below states the term in one line.

Cost Basis
Cost basis is the total you paid for a crypto position, including fees, used to work out profit.
Staking APR vs APY
APR is the stated staking rate. APY includes compounding of rewards, so it is slightly higher.
Impermanent Loss
Impermanent loss is the value a liquidity provider gives up versus simply holding the two tokens.
Gas Fee
A gas fee is the cost of an Ethereum transaction, paid in gwei, a billionth of an ETH.
Vesting Cliff
A vesting cliff is a waiting period after which locked tokens begin to release.
Tax-Loss Harvesting
Tax-loss harvesting is selling a losing position to offset taxable gains elsewhere.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Do You Calculate Crypto Profit?

Crypto profit is the sale value minus the buy value and fees. Multiply units held by the price change, then subtract trading and network fees.

What Is Impermanent Loss?

Impermanent loss is the value a liquidity provider loses compared with holding the two tokens, caused by the pool rebalancing when prices move apart.

Is Staking APR the Same As APY?

No. APR is the stated rate, while APY includes compounding of rewards, so APY is slightly higher for the same rate.

Do These Calculators Use Live Prices?

No. You enter the prices, hashrate or gas figures yourself, so the results stay accurate whatever the market does.

Do These Calculators Store My Figures?

No. Each calculator runs in your browser, and nothing is sent anywhere unless you save a result, which stays on your device.
