Budget every workout station

HYROX Station Split Calculator

Quick Answer: Add all eight HYROX workout splits, find your slowest station, measure split balance, and estimate a full race time with running and Roxzone. Enter a target finish to calculate the station-time budget left after eight runs and transitions, then create proportional target splits for SkiErg through Wall Balls.

Turn eight separate workout times into one clear station plan and full-race budget.

What Is the HYROX Station Split Formula?

The calculator converts each minutes:seconds entry to seconds, adds all eight station splits, and then converts totals back to readable time.

Station total = S1 + S2 + S3 + S4 + S5 + S6 + S7 + S8Average station split = station total / 8Station share % = station split / station total x 100

S1 through S8 represent SkiErg, Sled Push, Sled Pull, Burpee Broad Jumps, Row, Farmers Carry, Sandbag Lunges, and Wall Balls.

Minutes and seconds conversion

Total seconds = minutes x 60 + secondsExample: 4:30 = 4 x 60 + 30 = 270 seconds

All addition happens in seconds. This avoids errors caused by treating 4:30 as the decimal number 4.30.

What Is the Official HYROX Station Order?

HYROX uses eight 1 km runs and eight workout stations in a fixed order. The official race page lists the same station sequence used by this calculator.

Adult HYROX workout station order and standard distance
StationWorkoutStandard task
1SkiErg1,000 m
2Sled Push50 m
3Sled Pull50 m
4Burpee Broad Jumps80 m
5Row1,000 m
6Farmers Carry200 m
7Sandbag Lunges100 m
8Wall Balls100 repetitions

Loads vary by division. Verify the current official HYROX rulebook and event briefing rather than using old social posts or unofficial charts.

How Is a HYROX Target Station Budget Calculated?

Subtract the eight-run total and Roxzone time from the target finish. The time left is the maximum combined station budget for that goal.

Run total = average 1 km pace x 8Station budget = target finish - run total - RoxzoneFull-race estimate = run total + station total + RoxzoneFinish gap = full-race estimate - target finish

The proportional target keeps each station's current share of total station time. It shows one mathematically consistent budget, not the only training plan.

Target station split = station budget x current station share

Use the HYROX Run Pace After Stations Calculator when one average run pace is too simple for your race plan.

HYROX Station Split Worked Example

The default Open example has eight station splits totaling 35:20. An average run pace of 5:30 creates a 44:00 run total, and Roxzone adds 7:00.

Station total = 4:30 + 3:15 + 4:20 + 5:30 + 4:25 + 2:10 + 4:40 + 6:30 = 35:20Full estimate = 44:00 + 35:20 + 7:00 = 86:2090:00 target gap = 86:20 - 90:00 = -3:40

The estimate is 3:40 inside the target. This margin can cover slower runs, longer transitions, penalties, or station variation, but it is not a guarantee.

For a component-by-component finish forecast, compare this output with the HYROX Finish Time Predictor.

How Does the HYROX Station Bottleneck Score Work?

The largest entered split is labeled the bottleneck because it contributes the most station time. That does not automatically make it the easiest place to save time.

Bottleneck share = slowest station time / station total x 100Variability % = standard deviation of eight splits / average split x 100

Variability compares spread across stations with the average. Different tasks naturally take different times, so it is a descriptive number, not a quality grade.

How to Record Accurate HYROX Station Splits

Use the same timing boundary for every workout and every test. Consistent inputs make changes across training sessions easier to trust.

  1. Choose a start point. Start each station clock at the same event marker, such as the workout entry line or first legal movement.
  2. Choose an end point. Stop at the final legal repetition or at the workout exit line. Write down which rule you used.
  3. Separate Roxzone time. Keep travel, equipment setup, and water stops out of the workout split when possible.
  4. Test under similar conditions. Match loads, distance, movement standards, surface, and rest. A fresh gym test is not the same as a station after several hard runs.

Official race results are best for reviewing a completed event. Training splits are useful for planning, but record penalties and missed repetitions because they can change the comparison.

For Doubles, record the team station split and note each partner's work share. The team time alone cannot show whether the handoff plan was balanced.

How to Use HYROX Target Station Splits

Treat proportional targets as a starting budget, then adjust them for the stations where safe improvement is most realistic.

A target table that cuts every station by the same percentage is mathematically fair, but performance does not improve evenly. An athlete may gain more from smoother Wall Ball sets than from trying to force a faster sled that causes later run pace to fall.

Start with one or two changes you can test. For example, save 20 seconds through cleaner Burpee Broad Jump rhythm and 15 seconds through planned Wall Ball breaks. Repeat the session under similar conditions before changing the full race goal.

Keep a small time reserve for traffic, judge instructions, equipment setup, and normal day-to-day variation. A plan with no reserve can miss its goal even when every average input looks reasonable.

HYROX station split comparison checklist

  • Use the same division loads and movement standards.
  • Compare the same timing boundaries.
  • Check whether a split includes a penalty.
  • Review the run before and after the station.
  • Change the target when repeated tests disagree with the estimate.

HYROX Station Splits for Beginners and by Age

Beginners should record complete, legal station times before chasing aggressive targets. Age alone does not support a universal station-time adjustment.

Division loads, movement skill, strength, endurance, penalties, and transitions affect splits more directly than age by itself. Compare results within the correct division and age group only when using official rankings.

Stop intense exercise for chest pain, faintness, or unusual shortness of breath. Seek medical advice when health conditions or symptoms raise concern.

HYROX Station Split Examples

First-time racer

Open athlete

Fast athlete

Sled bottleneck

Shows how one large sled split affects total time.

What Are the HYROX Station Split Estimate Limits?

The arithmetic is exact for the entered times, but the forecast is only as accurate as the inputs. Venue layout, penalties, traffic, equipment, and fatigue can change race results.

Some timing systems may define station or Roxzone boundaries differently. Use one consistent source when comparing races. Do not mix a workout-only stopwatch split with a result split that includes entry or exit time.

Doubles partners can divide station work, so individual effort cannot be inferred from a team split. Use the HYROX Doubles Split Strategy Calculator for partner allocation.

HYROX Station Split Questions

How many HYROX workout stations are there?

Adult HYROX racing uses eight workout stations. The sequence is SkiErg, Sled Push, Sled Pull, Burpee Broad Jumps, Row, Farmers Carry, Sandbag Lunges, and Wall Balls.

Does station time include Roxzone?

Not in this calculator. Enter workout station splits and Roxzone time separately. Official result platforms may define timing boundaries differently, so check the source before comparing two events.

How do I find my slowest HYROX station?

Enter all eight splits. The calculator selects the largest time and reports its share of total station time. A large split is a time contributor, not proof that it is the easiest station to improve.

What if my target leaves a negative station budget?

The target is not possible with the entered run pace and Roxzone time because those two parts already exceed the finish goal. Adjust the target or use faster realistic component inputs.

Can I compare station splits by age?

Use official results filtered to the same division and age group. This calculator does not apply an age adjustment because performance varies widely among athletes of the same age.

HYROX Station Rules and Data Sources

Official HYROX sources support the eight-station order, distances, repetitions, movement standards, and division rules. The calculator uses exact time arithmetic rather than invented performance coefficients.
